We keep going. We are Joaquin and Bryan and we’ve decided to go for a bike ride.
On August 22nd we finished a New York to Los Angeles ride with 40 other riders as part of 42 Below Vodka’s 42ride (www.welikebike42.com). About halfway through the two-month, 4,200 mile ride, some desires to keep going were vocalized, and after some brainstorming sessions and research, we decided that it could be a reality. So we’ve takien most of the necessary steps to disconnect from the real world and make touring our lives.
We’re starting where we left off. We ended our USA ride in Los Angeles, and that’s the departure point for the next adventure. Mexico. Central America. South America all the way down to Tierra del Fuego and then up the east coast to Brazil.
A short hop across the Atlantic and up north-western Africa, through Morroco, across the Strait of Gibraltar to Jo’s hometown of Cadiz, Spain for a much needed siesta. After our rest, it’s on to tackling Western and Eastern Europe, and then the only thing left will be… the rest of the world.
Other aspects of our tour, besides riding and avoiding busses, trucks, and dogs, will be making a film; uploading photos, drawings to the site; interviews with various people to get a sampling of contemporary bike culture around the world; and hopefully, publish our travel stories.
Thanks for looking!
